"Muse Reflection" (2019) van Micky Hoogendijk is een huiveringwekkend mooie foto die haar persoonlijke verhaal vermengt met dat van haar onderwerp. De foto, genomen in een verlaten gebouw in Los Angeles, toont een naakte vrouw met haar rug naar het licht, armen opgeheven en handen om haar hoofd geklemd. De schaduw van de vrouw op de muur en de donkere omlijning van het raamkozijn symboliseren de plaatsen waar verlies in het lichaam verblijft. Dit werk weerspiegelt Hoogendijk's blijvende verdriet en de inspiratie die ze eruit put. Hoewel de foto misschien als een zelfportret lijkt, benadrukt Hoogendijk dat het openstaat voor interpretatie, en de convergentie van energie tussen de maker, het onderwerp en de kijker vertegenwoordigt. "Muse Reflection" onderstreept de transformerende kracht van kunst bij het verwerken en uiten van diepgaande emoties.
