Color and black and white portraits by Micky Hoogendijk on view at Eduard Planting Gallery

AMSTERDAM.- Eduard Planting Gallery in Amsterdam presents a Micky Hoogendijk exhibition from 10 January until 7 March 2015. With ‘The Other Side of Fear is Freedom’ the iconic art photographer shows color and black and white portraits that reflect the concealed vulnerability and beauty of people. At the base of Micky Hoogendijk’s work you will usually find an encounter, dream or subject that leads to an explosion of ideas. Recurring themes are religion, society and mythology. The powerful images that are on display at the exhibition are the result of the photographer’s curiosity of looking at the ‘diversity’ of people and objects. Sometimes she plays with perspective, sometimes with a different view of reality. With all her work there is a continuous quest, the shift to ‘The Other Side’, which gives the spectator a pause for thought.

Micky Hoogendijk comes from an art family and already at a young age developed a strong feel for creativity and aesthetics. As an actress and model she was in front of the camera for years. Since 2010 Micky has been living in the United States and is behind the camera as a photographer. Micky Hoogendijk’s work was previously on display at art fairs such Art Platform Los Angeles, (e)merge in Washington, Contemporary Istanbul, RAW Art Fair in Rotterdam, KunstRAI and PAN Amsterdam. She also exhibits at galleries in the United States, Japan and Europe.
